In years 7, 8 and 9 students are placed in sets or groups according to their ability. All students follow a modular course based on the QCA scheme of work. Students are regularly assessed with short tests at the end of each module and twice a year there is an opportunity for their achievement to be recognised by promotion to a higher set.

At the end of years 7 and 8 the exam is based on Key Stage 3 SATS questions.

At Key Stage 4 all students follow a double award modular course. It is clear that our students are expected and encouraged to engage positively and productively with their GCSE right from the outset at the start of year 10 in order to fully benefit from and succeed within the modular nature of the course.

All the courses are delivered in a large, modern, five laboratory suite. We set and expect homework to be done on a regular basis.

We expect science to be fun at times, awesome at other times and, although demanding and exacting, relevant to our current day and age and vital for the development of students.
