"A Governor has important roles as watchdog, champion, mediator and manager; it is within the role to ask questions and to seek convincing answers, to support the school if the Governor feels that it is not getting a fair deal, to press the school if it seems to be unthinkingly set in its ways, to defend it against unwarranted criticism and to act as a crucial link between the community, the school and the L.E.A".
