Student Voice

Your chance to have your say in the development of your school

The story so far...
Student voice has been around for years at Manor CC. Every year we become better organised and the teachers and governors take more and more notice of our ideas.

Recent Achievements
The group worked very hard last year to improve the consistency and effectiveness of our meetings. In the summer term there was 100% attendance at Student Voice. Here are a few things we did last year:
  • Set up inter-form competitions
  • Interviewed key staff members
  • Helped decide the new uniform
  • Spoke to Ofsted and the TES about the good and the bad things about our school

There is lots more we want to achieve and this year we aim to:
  • Lead an anti-bullying event for schools from the whole of Cambridgeshire
  • Secure funding for Student Voice
  • Run for the UK Youth Parliament
  • Plan and run regular discos and events
  • Plan the year 11 prom
  • Train to be more effective interviewers
  • Have an input into curriculum development

  • THIS IS ONLY THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG

What qualities make an effective student representative?
There are several qualities you need to have to make an effective student representative. You need to be:
  • punctual and reliable
  • a good listener
  • a good talker
  • someone with ideas
  • someone who is not afraid to get stuck in
  • anyone who has ever said they don't like something at Manor CC

  • DON'T COMPLAIN ABOUT IT, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT

What do you need to do next?
